Why meta tags matter

Titles, descriptions and social previews that actually convert

Meta tags do not rank a page alone, but they control what people see in search snippets and social shares. A missing title, thin description or broken og:image means fewer clicks — even when the page content is strong. This free SEO meta and Open Graph checker shows the tags search engines and apps actually read.

Use it after installing Yoast or Rank Math, changing themes, launching a shop, or fixing “wrong preview when I share on LinkedIn”. Pair it with the robots.txt & sitemap checker for crawl files, the HTTP status tool for redirects, and the SSL checker if HTTPS is new.

Title & description Length and presence checks so SERP snippets are not blank or cut off.
Canonical & robots Spot accidental noindex or wrong canonical after migrations.
Open Graph / Twitter Confirm share titles, descriptions and preview images before launch.

FAQ

SEO meta checker FAQs

What does this free SEO meta checker show?

It fetches a public page and reads the HTML title, meta description, canonical link, robots meta, viewport, language, first H1, Open Graph tags (og:title, og:description, og:image and more) and Twitter card tags. You also get a simple SERP-style preview and tips when tags are missing or too short/long.

Why do title and meta description length matter?

Search results truncate overly long titles and descriptions. Roughly 50–60 characters for titles and 140–160 for descriptions is a practical target, though Google rewrites snippets often. Checking length after a redesign or CMS change avoids blank or cut-off listings.

What are Open Graph tags?

Open Graph (og:) meta tags control how a URL looks when shared on Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack and many other apps — title, description and preview image. Missing og:image is one of the most common share-preview problems after a site launch.

Is this the same as a full SEO audit?

No. This tool is a fast on-page meta and social-preview snapshot. A full SEO audit also covers crawlability, internal links, content quality, Core Web Vitals, schema and competitors. Use this checker for launches and spot-checks; book SEO services for a full plan.

Can you fix meta tags on my WordPress site?

Yes. Jamie Freeman handles WordPress/WooCommerce SEO setup, titles, schema and share previews as part of UK web design and SEO work — start with this free checker, then book a free call if you want it done properly.
