Case study

WordPress marketing site for a real venue.

A hospitality business needed a site guests could trust on a phone: stays, the story, practical details, and a path to enquire or book — with WordPress so the team can change copy without a developer for every sentence.

WordPress Client-editable
Theme Custom, not a skin
Mobile Checked on a real phone

Overview

The job

Venues live or die on first impression and practical facts: where, when, how to book, what it costs to stay. The site had to look like the place, load on holiday 4G, and still be editable by the people who run it.

I built a custom WordPress theme around the content, not the other way round. Training covered the bits they actually change.

Details

What shipped

A marketing site, not a page builder playground.

Custom theme

Templates for home, stays, story and contact — not 40 stacked blocks on one page.

Editor path

The client can change copy and images after a short training session.

Enquiry / booking path

Clear next step. No mystery hamburger of seven competing CTAs.

Performance habits

Images, fonts and plugins kept on a diet so the phone does not suffer.

In practice

Why WordPress here

The content changes (seasons, offers, closed dates). A static folder would have made the owner wait on me for every paragraph. WordPress is the right tool when non-developers own the words.

Custom PHP still wins for logins and workflows. This job was pages and trust.

Outcomes

What this proves

Custom WordPress is not a purchased theme with a logo

Training was part of launch

Mobile was not an afterthought

The owner can edit without breaking the layout

Fit

Who this is for

A good fit if you…

  • A venue, clinic, trade or practice that needs to look serious
  • Someone on the team will edit pages
  • You want WordPress without a page-builder mess

Not the right fit if you…

  • A web app pretending to be a theme
  • Unlimited design exploration with no content

FAQ

Questions

Will I be able to edit it?

Yes, for normal copy and images, after training.

Do you use Elementor / Divi?

Not as a default. Heavy builders are how sites get slow and fragile. I will say if a builder is actually justified.

Can you take over an existing WordPress site?

Yes — rebuild or tidy, with redirects if URLs change.

Need a WordPress site you can edit?

Send the pages you need and any current URL. I will map a package.
